I was in a personal situation that required me to stay within 30 minutes of home. I had 3 affordable options and chose this school because I was drawn to hyped-up advertising and somehow thought that a private education is better than a public education. Not necessarily.

I can see this school being excellent if you are a first generation Hispanic. There are plenty of programs that help that demographic succeed in their endeavors. However, if you are not, you will have to find other resources, as the professors and the school really have no incentive in assisting you with preparing for graduate/professional school or finding funding for very expensive prep courses for certain standardized tests.

To be frank, I received a better education in high school and am curious, again, about the advertising for this school and its programs. The program through which my tuition was covered advertised students with SAT scores and GPAs comparable to students who were admitted at Ivy League universities. However, the course-load in these classes did not seem at all complimentary to the admission statistics posted on the website.

I guess the most important thing I took from my undergraduate education here was becoming a self-starter, in the sense that I had to do many things on my own in order to pursue the endeavors I wanted. This is a desirable trait in the working world, so I am thankful for that. I encountered perhaps two or three professors who were willing to go the extra mile for their students and actually act as indiscriminate educators, and I think that if more of the faculty were like this, the university would be much improved.
