A lot of people give Lock Haven a bad reputation, but these people I feel did not believe there own made up expectations of what a small town college is like. Like any university Lock Haven has it's pros and cons.

First off this school is an athlete-based, education and pre-med college. Don't come here with a theater or art major and expect to get everything you want out of it. The athletic training and physical therapy tracks are lead by some of the finest teachers and professors in the state. They're all extremely friendly and genuinely care about your life outside of the classroom.

Athletics here are very popular amongst students and even if you decide not to join a team there's a vast amount of inter-murals to participate in. Extracurricular activities are abundant at LHU but you have to take the initiative to find them.

The campus life and dorms are nice, with the new suites that were built and the numerous renovations coming the campus is only going to go up. The surrounding mountains and river make LHU a gorgeous place to look around. Food is typical dining hall food, and tastes just the same as a $50,000 ivy school.

The town and night life are lacking most of the time. Often times you must make your own fun but going into town to thrift shop or sit at the local diner/coffee shop is about all that it has to offer. In terms of parties you should expect it to be hot or cold, large parties rarely happen.

Finally, it's difficult to describe the affect LHU has on some people. I came here 3 years ago and most of the times I wanted to go home. Now I can barely get myself out of Lock Haven. I love this place and it without a doubt grows on you. Everyone knows everyone and you know that you'll meet life long friends here if you decide to come. You won't be disappointed.
